Still Life series of a violin

A few years ago I felt this need to do more environmental portraits, as I felt I was repeating myself when doing portraits. I've always loved handcraft and therefor decided to reach out to a local violin maker. We've kept in touch since our first encounter, and I reached out to him again when I wanted to do a still life series on a violin.

The whole concept was to play with light and shadow, contrast and harmonic color and space. Shadow melting like the watches in Salvador Dali's "Persistence of Time", Violin in a room and violin hanging on the wall. Only the wall mount is the hand of the maker himself.

Blood Command

A few weeks ago I photographed Blood Command for their upcomming album "Cult Drugs". The theme for the album is Heavens Gate. A religious doomsday sect who commited mass suicide in 1997. I wanted to use the oppertunity to experiment with the light, making it feel somwhat out of this world and religious. Playing with light and shadow, keeping the overall scene dark and moody.

As always I scetch up my vision in a horrible way, to make my team be able to understand what I'm looking for as the end result. I really should take some drawing classes or anything..
